Therapy for Children & Young Adults in Peterborough
Helping young people understand their emotions and build confidence

What Is Therapy for Children & Young Adults?
Therapy for children and young adults is a supportive space where young people can explore their emotions and experiences at their own pace. As a professional Art Therapist, Penny often brings creative approaches into sessions, giving children and young adults a way to express what's going on that doesn't always require finding the right words.
The goal is to help young clients build emotional resilience, confidence, and communication skills they can carry into everyday life.

Every young person deserves a space where they feel heard and supported. Whether your child is working through anxiety, a difficult transition, or just needs a place to express themselves, support is here for your whole family.

My Approach
I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and I'm a Registered Psychotherapist and professional Art Therapist, supervised by Dr. Pati Beaudoin, Registered Psychologist. I work through a trauma-informed lens, with training in Neurographica, Internal Family Systems (IFS), ADHD Therapy, and EMDR.
With children and teens, this means adapting each of these approaches to fit their age and needs, always with creativity as a bridge when words are hard to find.
What It Can Help With
Children & Young Adult therapy can support a wide range of experiences, including:
Anxiety and worry
Low self-esteem
Grief and loss
Family transitions
School stress
Behavioural challenges

What to Expect
There's no such thing as a typical session. Each one is flexible and shaped around what you both need. We usually begin with a time of checking in, talking about what's been happening and what you'd like to explore, then use conversation and, when it's helpful, creative practices to continue that exploration together.
