Life Issues & Anxiety

Some anxiety doesn't come from a single event, it builds from the state of the world around you. Climate change, the constant pull of social media, uncertainty about the future, these are real sources of stress that can leave you feeling anxious in ways that are hard to explain or shake off.

Penny works with clients across Ontario, online and in person in Peterborough, to help make sense of this kind of anxiety and build a steadier way of moving through daily life. As a professional Art Therapist, she often brings creative practices into this work, giving you a way to process what can feel too big or abstract to talk through directly.

You're not overreacting. This kind of anxiety is real, and there's support for it.

Struggling with environmental anxiety, social media stress, or worry about the future? Penny Hope offers therapy in Ontario, online or in person in Peterborough, to help you find clarity.

What Are Life Issues?

Life issues cover the broader, often less-named sources of anxiety many people carry today, environmental anxiety, the mental toll of social media, and worry about a future that feels uncertain. Unlike anxiety tied to one clear cause, this kind can feel diffuse and constant, showing up as background tension that's hard to put a finger on.

Therapy creates space to name what's actually driving that tension and find ways to hold it that don't leave you feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

A Creative Way to Process the Bigger Picture

Anxiety about the state of the world or the future can be hard to fully articulate, it's not always about one thing. As a professional Art Therapist, Penny uses creative practices alongside conversation to help make these bigger, harder-to-name worries more tangible, so they're easier to work through instead of just carrying.

No artistic skill needed. It's simply another way of getting a clearer view of what's weighing on you.

What to Expect

Sessions start with exploring what's actually driving your anxiety, whether that's world events, social media, or uncertainty about what's ahead. From there, work is paced around you, using conversation and creative practices to build a steadier relationship with these bigger worries.

The goal isn't to eliminate concern for the world, it's to help you carry it without it taking over your day-to-day life.

My Approach

I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, and I'm a Registered Psychotherapist and professional Art Therapist, supervised by Dr. Pati Beaudoin, Registered Psychologist. I work through a trauma-informed lens, with training in Neurographica, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and EMDR.

With life issues, this often means grounding techniques paired with creative practices, helping you process what feels overwhelming without becoming consumed by it.
